Make It Roses: Sunset Tones for Friendship Day
Jose Acosta

Nobody Sends Their Best Friend Flowers. Be the One Who Does.
Think about the last time flowers showed up at your door. A birthday, maybe. An anniversary, an apology, a hospital visit. Now try to remember a single time someone sent you roses just for being a good friend. Exactly. It almost never happens, and that is precisely why it lands so hard when it does.
Friendship Day is Sunday, August 2 this year. Either date works. What matters is the reaction: your best friend opening a box of two dozen farm fresh Ecuadorian roses with a note that says something like "no occasion, you're just my person." That text thread will not be normal for a week.
And this summer, the colors picked themselves. If you have scrolled through any wedding or interiors feed lately, you have seen the golden hour palette everywhere: sun yellows, warm peaches, glowing corals, colors borrowed from the sky at 7:45 pm in July. It happens to be exactly the palette friendship roses have always lived in. Yellow has meant friendship for over a century. This year it also happens to be the trend.
Every rose below grows at our farm in the Ecuadorian Andes right now and ships farm to door in 5 to 6 days. For a Sunday, August 2 surprise, order by July 22-26.
Start With Yellow. It Is the Whole Point.
Super Sun Rose
The Super Sun is yellow with no hesitation in it, a big, saturated bloom, the color of summer. This is the classic friendship rose done at Ecuadorian scale, which means heads nearly twice the size of what a supermarket bunch delivers. A bunch of Super Suns in a clear vase can change the mood of an entire kitchen.
High & Yellow Magic Flame Rose
Magic Flame starts golden at the base and turns into orange and red at the petal edges, like a fire bloom. It gives an arrangement movement without needing a single extra variety. For the friend with strong opinions and a louder laugh, this is the one.
Yellow Fresh-Cut Roses
Our farm's pick of whichever yellow varieties are cutting best that week. You lock in the color, our growers pick the stems at peak. It is the easiest yes on this page.
Then Warm It Up: Peach and Coral
Shimmer Rose
Shimmer is the rose version of the hour before sunset, a soft peach with light under the petals. On its own it is understated. Next to Super Sun it turns the whole arrangement into a gradient. This variety disappears from our cutting schedule fast in summer, so do not sit on it.
Orange Crush Rose
Exactly what the name promises: a juicy, saturated orange with petals that open into a full ruffle. Orange reads as energy and warmth, no romance strings attached, which makes it quietly perfect for a friend.
Glam Coral Tinted Rose
Our tinting team pushes this one into a coral you will not find in nature, vivid and even from edge to edge. If her nail color has ever been described as "screaming," Glam Coral is her rose.
Eternal Sunset Rose
The full golden hour gradient on a single stem resembles a sunset sky. You need zero arranging skill: drop a bunch in a vase and everyone who walks past will ask if they are real.
Three Arrangements You Can Build in Ten Minutes
-
The Sunset Gradient. Super Sun at the center, Shimmer around it, Glam Coral at the edges. Line the varieties up from light to dark and let the colors do the design work.
-
The Straight Up Sunshine. Two dozen Super Sun or mixed yellows, one vase, nothing else. Mono bouquets are having a moment this year, and yellow is the friendliest possible version.
-
The Golden Hour With a Twist. Mostly peach and coral, plus three stems of lavender fresh-cut roses. Lavender is the color of the sky just after the sun drops, and it makes the warm tones glow harder.
Zero-Effort Options That Still Look Like Effort
-
Summer Sun Mix Box: our designers already built the golden-hour palette for you, roses plus summer blooms in one coordinated box.
-
Orange-Peach Mix Rose Box: the warm half of the sunset, chosen by the people who grow it.
-
Rainbow Fresh Bunch: for the friend group gift. Every color at once, splits perfectly across four or five people, chaos in the best way.
-
Six Roses Bouquet: sending to three friends instead of one? Three small bouquets, three doorsteps, one very good Sunday.
The Logistics, Quickly
-
Friendship Day is Sunday, August 2. With 5 to 6 day farm to door shipping, order by July 26. For the July 30 international date, order by July 23.
-
Trim stems at an angle on arrival and let them drink for a few hours before arranging.
-
With basic care they will hold 15 days, which means the flowers outlast most group chats attention spans.
-
Sending to multiple friends in different cities? Each box ships directly from the farm.
She Has Heard "Thanks for Everything." She Has Never Gotten It in Rose Form.
Friendships run on small maintenance: the memes, the check in texts, the "get home safe" messages. Fifty sunset roses on an ordinary Sunday in August is the loud version of all of that, and she will remember it long after the vase is empty.
Pick your palette from the fresh-cut roses collection, or let the Summer Sun Mix Box do it for you. And if you have a girlfriend as well as a best friend, Girlfriend Day is Saturday, August 1, the day before. Same checkout, same shipping window, two people who think you are the most thoughtful person alive by Monday.
