How is Ocean Song Rose different from our other lavender roses?
Of the lavender varieties we carry, Ocean Song Rose has the smallest, most delicate bloom, notably more compact than Cool Water, Country Blues, or Deep Purple. That makes it a better fit for smaller-scale work like boutonnieres or compact centerpieces where a larger lavender rose would feel out of proportion. Its softer scale doesn't mean a weaker color, the lavender tone itself is just as present, only carried on a more petite bloom. That combination of small size and real color depth is what sets it apart from the rest of the lavender family we grow.
Why does it arrive looking tighter than it will end up?
Ocean Song Rose ships with its outer guard petals in place, the same as every fresh-cut rose we send. This is a normal protective layer, not a sign of poor quality, and gently peeling it back once the rose arrives reveals the fuller, softer bloom underneath. Given its smaller size, the difference is quick to see after just a day in fresh water.
How long does Ocean Song Rose last?
Shipped farm-direct from Ecuador, Ocean Song Rose typically holds for 14 to 21 days with clean water and a recut every few days. That's considerably longer than roses that have already moved through a multi-step distribution chain before reaching a customer. Regular recutting helps it stay hydrated despite its more delicate bloom structure, and keeping it away from direct heat helps preserve its softer color longer.
Who tends to reach for Ocean Song Rose?
Florists use it for smaller-scale or detail work, like boutonnieres and compact arrangements, where a larger lavender bloom would overwhelm the design. Home-florists also favor it for the same reason, an easier size to work with in smaller, everyday bouquets. It's a practical choice whenever the brief calls for lavender but not a large, dominant bloom, and it pairs cleanly alongside its bolder lavender relatives when a design calls for varying scale within the same color family.
